Champagne Springs at Dusk, El Questro Station in the East Kimberley Region

I have always looked at the sign pointing to the trail to Champagne Springs at El Questro Station, in the East Kimberley region, thought about it… But never walked it.  You see, although its not very far away as the crow flies from the El Questro campsite, its actually about 5 hours of pretty intense hiking over a very rocky and broken trail.  With about 20kg of camera gear its a hard walk indeed.  When i was at El Questro last year in July i finally decided it was time to see it.  So I chartered the helicopter… Ooops…  Not very adventurous really, but since i wanted to see it  at dusk my options were limited to only 2.  Chopper in (and back out) or walk in, stay the night and walk out the next day… which is probably what i should have done, and i will… next time.  Besides, the flight in along the Pentecost Gorge was stunning and the aerial view  is a great way to get perspective of that amazing region.

The helicopter (a red Robinson 44) is just to the left out of this shot, which is about a 12 image stitch shot on the Canon 5D Mk II with the Canon 24mm f1.4 L lens
